I’d really like to join in the conversation myself, but the idea of reading through thousands of other people’s comments just to avoid saying something dumb and/or repeating what someone else said it not feasible, so I’ll write about it here. Bruce Buschel’s 100 Things Restaurant Staffers Should Never Do (1-50 and 51-100) is so awesome that everyone should not only read it, but should make a point of reading it at least semiannually. In particular, young people like me, who grew up middle class and consequently have rarely or never encountered really classy service, should read it so we can see what that service is like and recognize it when we do find it. It can also be used to educate people from uncivilized countries like Israel that have no tradition of service.
