Inglorious Basterds

Check out the headline of this article about Inglourious Basterds in Haaretz: Inglourious Basterds offends some Israelis, but others get the joke. Does that sound foolish to anyone else beside me? Is it even conceivable that some people might be offended because they get the joke?

Anyway, in the spirit of there being no business like Shoah business, I will not be watching this movie as I haven’t watched a Holocaust movie in many years.

I, for one, am tired of WWII-themed movies; I’m simply burnt-out on them. Hollywood just keeps cranking them out, because they know Americans will lap them up. But enough is enough; it’s been sixty years…

As long as the baby boomers are still a major demographic force, Hollywood will keep making heroic World War Two movies to honor the baby boomers’ parents and anti-Vietmam War movies to make the baby boomers feel good about themselves.

Indeed; I long for the day when they’re all dead…

I don’t know about dead… but I’d definitely like to see them disenfranchised.
