I don’t know jack shit about farming, but I know a few things about logistics and a few more about economics, and I spent more than 20 years in America and fucking love Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for this year? If you’re an American, you should give thanks that your president hasn’t yet appointed a Turkey Czar whose job it would be to determine how many turkeys will be produced, at what time of year, by whom, in which places, for which customers, and at what cost.
Fortunately for you, turkey farming is still left to an almost free market so turkey farmers can do their jobs. Do not take this for granted! Doctors, teachers, bankers, landlords and many other professionals are quite a bit more restricted. It’s too late for this year I guess, but next year don’t forget to thank capitalism for giving you a Thanksgiving that you love and not a crappy socialist ersatz Thanksgiving with substitute ingredients or turkeys that cost $150 because they’re taxed at a special rate for luxury items.
